S4 Ep06: “The Buck Stops Here” Harry S. Truman
Harry S. Truman became the 33rd President of the United States after the unforeseen death of his predecessor, Franklin D. Roosevelt on April 12, 1945. Truman, who rarely interacted with Roosevelt during his brief time as his vice-president, was suddenly left in charge of his country during the waning days of WWII. It was a time when decisions had to be made about the future of war devastated Europe, the rise of communism and the use of the atomic bomb to bring an end to the war in the Pacific.
In this episode, our guest, Clifton Truman Daniel, eldest grandson of Harry Truman, will be speaking with us about his grandfather’s life and presidency.
Clifton is the honorary chairman of the board of the Truman Library Institute and is an author, lecturer and actor. He is currently portraying his grandfather in the play “Give ‘Em Hell Harry” by Samuel Gallu.
